Borders and Angus & Robertson customers left holding gift certificates after the booksellers fell into voluntary administration are being told they must spend double the amount on the voucher to redeem it.The booksellers' demands are stated on their websites. REDgroup, owned by private equity firm Pacific Equity Partners, owns both chains and Whitcoulls in New Zealand."This is an absolute disgrace," said customer Colleen Budge after being told of the conditions at Borders in Melbourne Central.But, legally, the booksellers were likely to be adhering to the terms of the vouchers, the Consumer Action Law Centre's Eileen Kerrigan said.
