Taipans Kick Off Season In Strong Form

SOUTH Coast Taipans enjoyed a strong start to the 2008-09 NSW Futsal Super League, with a double-header at the weekend.

The Taipans hosted Enfield Rovers on Sunday at Illawarra Sports High, and won six of the eight matches played.

The South Coast's men's team won 5-0 thanks to braces from Ben Greenwood and Darryl Fernandez, and a goal by Gareth Gardener.

The women won 2-1 through goals from Tina Siskoska and Caitlin Danyi.

The men's youth team were thumped 6-1, Ann Mayo scored five goals for the under 16 women, who won 8-1, the under 16 boys triumphed 2-0, the under 13 girls lost 7-3, the under 14 boys won 5-2 and the under 12 boys won 4-1.

On Saturday, South Coast hosted Maccabi Futsal, and won all but two of eight games. The men lost 3-2 despite goals from Gardener and Greenwood.

South Coast's women won 18-1 , including four goals to Caitlin Danyi and hat-tricks to Belinda Griffith, Joline Bohne and Courtney Danyi. The men's youth team lost 9-2, the under 16 girls won 13-2, the under 16 boys won 4-1, the under 13 girls won on forfeit, the under 14 boys won 13-1 and the under 12 boys won 8-4.
