DOUBLE THE FIST

The thing about cult hits is they're inevitably kind of marginal. For every person cacking themselves over Flight of the Conchords, 10 are simply staring at it in bewilderment. And so it is with Double the Fist. Intellectually, I can appreciate it: the parody of Australian masculinity; the bizarre collection of characters (including a zombie, a gymnast, and a panda called Panda). I loved some of the gags, particularly one too visual to detail here - let's just call it the "hand gun". And I don't mind the Pythonesque splatter either. My one problem is it doesn't make me laugh. Apparently, loads of people (one suspects, mainly blokes) find it hilarious. So have a look, and make up your own mind.
